I am using Q’time version 7.4, transferring XMF files/P2 volumes stored on 500G lacie drives and containing AVC intra 100 720 50p material. I am working on a 2.13GHz Macbook Pro. FCP (version 6.0.2) ‘unexpectantly quits’ intermittingly, but always with specific P2 card volumes originally transferred from 32G P2 cards. Any solutions please or do I need to upgrade to an 8 core Mac Pro ?

    Trevor

If this is on specific P2 volumes, it suggests corrupted data on those volumes. I would suggest transferring smaller batches to see if you can narrow down the problem. There should be no real reason why your MBP would cause a problem.

You don’t have Perian installed on the laptop, do you?

Many thanks Ben. I can view these P2 volumes perfectly through P2cms and they also play fine in the ‘log and transfer” window until they suddenly crash. I can sometimes transfer a couple of clips before FCP crashes. It’s the same p2 volumes that crash each time, usually cards between 22 and 25Gbs. I used a friend’s more recent 2.5GHz MBP and had no probelms ‘log and transferring’these same P2 volumes off my Lacie drives. Any ideas ??

I’m encountering a similar issue with all of my file based media, P2 and XDCAM alike. Whenever I attempt to load a folder of data I get the same unexpectedly quit message.

I can view the footage fine in P2 CMS and XDCAM Transfer, but Log and Transfer fails. I don’t mind using XDCAM Transfer, however I need to batches to reconnect media which I need log and transfer to do.
