Log and Transfer
Posted by Cal Gordon on November 22, 2008 at 3:28 amIf there’s anyone who can help, I’d greatly appreciate it.
I’m unable to transfer takes from the “log and transfer” window into the “browser” window. Which is the same as dragging the takes from the “log and transfer” window into the window below it which allows me to put the selected material into my timeline.
This doesn’t happen with all the takes, just with some of them, and this glitch has put a halt to my editing.
Any suggestions or solutions?
Please help.
Thank you,

November 22, 2008 at 5:09 amAre we talking P2 here or what?
Maybe these clips are parts of a longer shot and you need to drag or add them to the Queue to be sewn together.Jim Calahan

November 24, 2008 at 2:17 amYes, they’re P2 cards. The footage has already been transferred into my external hard drive and some of the clips are spanned. I will try this suggestion and let you know. Thanks!

November 25, 2008 at 2:12 amYes, they’re P2 cards. I’ve tried adding them to the Queue and imported all spanned clips together but it didn’t work. Some of the clips I’m trying to transfer are not spanned at all, but still they won’t transfer over. I’m really baffled by this. I’m almost half-way through my edit but can’t finish it because of this problem. I’m stuck. Please help!
Thanks.

November 25, 2008 at 3:35 amWe had a card today that was copied to a server last month and some of the video files were missing. For whatever reason the transfer was interrupted and all of the video files didn’t make it. The audio files, Proxy files etc. made it but 5 video files were missing. The card has been used many times over and we are just out of luck.
I would check if all the files are in their folders and then if they are, look for someone with HD log to fix the files if possible. You have to double check folder sizes when you copy.Jim Calahan

November 26, 2008 at 5:49 amI ran into the same problem last May with them P2 cards. Upon downloading into an external drive, it created folders and thumbnails of the clips. Our 2nd AC was not checking the file size (nor the footage at all) that when it finally came to viewing the dailies, there was no footage at all! And the P2 cards had been recorded over.
I’m still stuck with my original problem. Some clips are not transferring over onto the Add to Queue section. I can watch the clips but can’t edit them.

November 27, 2008 at 5:37 amSome of the clips are 24frames while others are 60frames. But I shall give this a try and let you know. In the meantime I’ve sent a message to Mark (the guy who was in the same predicament). I’ve read the entire thread but it seems he didn’t find a solution.
Thanks very much! Will keep you posted. (Really such a weird problem!)

November 28, 2008 at 5:09 amHi Jim,
Tried to uncheck the “remove pulldown” option, but it didn’t work. Don’t know what’s going on.
Thanks,
Cal
