I have a dual 1ghz,2 gb ram quicksilver powermac g4 it has 5.0.1 version of final cut pro. Is there any version of final cut 5 that has “log and transfer” not log and capture. I need to be able to log p2 card footage in dvc pro hd without having to upgrade hardware, is there a version of final cut 5 to do this?

No. Before FCP 6 the interface was under FILE>IMPORT>PANASONIC P2. And it was ONLY used to import Panasonic P2 footage. It was changed to LOG AND TRANSFER in FCP 6 because now it handles more formats than P2.

Yes…FCP 5.0.4. You need to run the system update to get you to 5.0.4, that was the first version to allow import of Panasonic P2 DVCPRO HD footage. You also need FCP 7.1.6 bare minimum.
