I am using FCP studio 2

On a brand new PowerBook running Snow Leopard.

I have my camera connected via firewire capturing a bunch of Mini DV tapes.

I just want to capture the entire tape, so I rewind the tape, hit play and capture on the log and capture window.

The problem is… every time I get to a cut on the tape, the capture software stops the tape, backs up to the timecode break and makes a new movie.

This takes forever and every 3-4 cuts, it gives me an error… it captures some clips, but not others.

I just want ONE seamless quicktime movie… with no breaks.

    How do I do this?

    thanks

The problem is…you have timecode breaks on your tape. There’s the flaw. FCP is supposed to do exactly what it’s doing.

I don’t think it can roll across TC breaks the way you want. Tell your shooter (next time) to pad a bit extra, rewind into the good footage, and then hit record = continuous TC.

    Best,

In user preferences you can untick the Abort capture on dropped frame and also you have choices under On timecode break: 1. Make new clip 2. Abort capture 3. Warn after capture. Hope this helps.
