Help! All of a sudden when I try to capture there is no video in the log and capture window. Just bars and it says preview disabled. When I tried to capture some audio I needed the logged clip would not stop at the out point. Any ideas?

Same thing has happened to me in the middle of a batch capture. Ran Easy Set Up put it didn’t fix the problem. Repaired permissions. Even quit and re-booted FCP. Next I’ll do the computer.

    I’m capturing mini-dv tape using a Panny deck to a SATA-connected G-Drive.

    Any other ideas?

sounds identical to my issue. Basically same machine & software. I’m using an DVX-100 camera as a deck. I turned off everything went to bed next day it was fine. Two days later I’m trying to batch capture and i keep getting a box saying it can’t find time code.
Turned off everything did something else for a while came back and it was fine. Go figure

In Log and Capture, I am unable to view the video from my Canon NTSC Optura 50 camcorder. It was working find. Lost one of the captured clips. (about a week after capture). Trying to capture now I get Preview Disabled. I am able to control the camcorder with the controls from Log and Capture. However, if I try to capture a clip, FCP stops responding and I have to Force Quit. Sometimes even have to turn computer off via the power switch. Have gone through Larry Jordon’s videos on trouble shooting FCP, rechecked all preferences, rebuilt the directories using Disk Warrior and more. I am using a Macbook Pro 2.4 gHz, 2GRam, a 500 G Mercury Elite Pro external HD for media. There has been an few upgrades for Leoared 10.5.2 since my successful capture. Has anybody solved this problem.

This camera does not play well with other firewire devices. Including external drives, whether 400 or 800. I have to capture to internal driven and works fine. Not a fix, just a work around.
