Locking envelope to event
Posted by Roger Bansemer on November 5, 2019 at 9:11 pmSomehow all the audio has been unlocked from my video events. I have “lock envelope to event” on and “ignore event grouping” is off.
I’d group back one at a time but I have hundreds of events.
How did I manage to do this and how do I lock that audio back to the video event?
Thanks
RogerPS. I’m enjoying the new Version 17

November 5, 2019 at 9:53 pmBy “locked”, I presume that you want to keep the the audio and video “grouped”, so that if you click on the video and drag, the audio will stay with the video? If this is what you mean, there is a simple script that will do this written by Giles Pialat quite a few yeas ago. If this is what you mean let me know and I’ll post it along with some instructions.

Hm… There is something else going on. Do you use Ripple applied? Locking Envelope, and this is locking any Envelope Audio etc etc to the Event. If you use any editing the Event’s Envelope will move with it. If that Envelope is NOT moving with any Ripple then you may have discovered a Bug?
I use Edward Troxel’s Script to realign A/V.

November 6, 2019 at 1:15 pmYes, I meant “locked” to the event. I had this happen once before with a former version of Vegas. A script would be helpful. I’d simply put the events back on the timeline anew but they’d be all out of order.

November 6, 2019 at 9:22 pmHi Roger,
Rather than re-post the old Giles script, I wrote a new one which you can download here. https://www.dropbox.com/s/u4kyy9q9i9gt2ib/GroupSelectedEvents.dll?dl=0
To install, download the file and copy it into your ScriptMenu folder. First make sure that the file is not “blocked” since Windows often blocks files downloaded from DropBox. To check, right-click and choose properties. If blocked, you will see a button on the lower right part of the dialog with the text Unblock. Simply click to Unblock.
A few caveats. First, it assumes that the audio track is right below the video track. In other words, if the audio track is on top of the video track or there is another track in between the video and audio tracks, the events will not be grouped. Second, it assumes that the start times and event lengths for both the audio and video are the same. If the audio and video are not synced or not the same length, they will not be grouped. Third, it assumes that the audio and video are from the same media file. If not, the events will not be grouped.
To use, simply select the events and run the script. Let me know if there are problems.
