i have a VO track cut into sections, how do i lock the track? i also want to normalise the track, i’m looking for a single keystroke instead of selecting all the clips. maybe a script?

You don’t lock a track. You *can* lock all of the EVENTS on that track.

Normalizing can be done via a script. You can also just select all the events, go to Edit – Switches and pick Normalize. However, be aware it may not really give you the results you’re looking for!

Edward is correct, of course, you can’t lock a track in Vegas, you may only lock events found on a track.
However, the industry term “Locked track” is common, and many NLE’s offer the ability to lock a complete track at the header.
This has been requested for Vegas in the past.

Right click first event, hit the “N” key, then right click again, and choose Switches/Lock.

I find the ability to lock events quite useful, but it would be better to bind a keyboard shortcut to it. Bad news, because it doesn´t work for me. Non of the choosen keyboard shortcut works for locking an event.
Is this a bug in Vegas (8)?

Hank, you can use a script to lock an event. In fact, the script could TOGGLE the lock switch (lock it if it’s unlocked and unlock it if it’s locked). Scripts can be easily assigned to a keypress so what you want to do can easily be done.

Thanks Edward, after saving the key bindings to a new file it worked!
