    i plan to buy a rolls mx 422 for location recoridng and eng work. is this a good entry level mixer?
    and what would be considered a good entry level shotgun for movie dialogue capture?

    Not an entry level.. But it’s an awesome mixer.

    416 is widely considered one of the best mics in the business.

    sorry it took so long to respond.
    does that mean below or above entry level?
    and what would be considered entry level?
    also i have been told of another shotgun thats “industry standard” the AT4073a ($550). its almost half the cost but how is it in real world usage?

    That mixer is above entry level

    and the industry standard for shotgun mics is the Sennhieser MKH416
    + or – $1200.

    I’ve never used the AT4073 before just some cheaper of the AT’s and I didn’t like them at all!

    If your doing a big important project and don’t have the money to buy the 416 then try renting one out. You’ll be happier with the result in the end!
