    Hello,

I have all my files on a external hard drive, the project was originally edited by another person on his laptop. When I plug the hard drive into my computer to load the project, it can’t locate the files. Due to his root drive is different from my drive. Therefore Premiere ask “Where is the file

Yep, Premiere handles this quite well actually.

When it asks you to locate the first file, just browse to your external drive and select it. Then Premiere will see any other required files that are in that same sub-directory.

Premiere will then ask for the next file if there are files stored in a different directory.

Then, if you save the Premiere project, it will remember the new directories which will save you from this process the next time you open it up.

Helpful hint: when browsing for your missing file, check the box that says something like “show only files that match the missing file. This makes it a lot easier to spot the exact file Premiere is looking for.
