June 15, 2007 at 9:41 pmYou have a 1200A. There is ZERO reason not to just capture DVCProHD over firewire (assuming you have the firewire option board).
Editing DVCProHD on a ProRes sequence gives you all the benefits you’d have if you just captured it in ProRes to begin with. And you’d save half the space and get better RT performance.
Furthermore, if you are mastering back to DVCProHD tape, you might as well skip the whole ProRes thing altogether. No reason for it. Just edit on a DVCProHD sequence.
You should read up on “native editing” to get an understanding of what it is.

I have a AJ1200A with the firewire board…Is it possible to use firewire for a batch capture? for some reason, I can not get it to work. Running Mac Pro w/ final cut 6. I also have a blackmagic card but (don’t laugh) don’t have an HD-SDI cable or remote cable to hook up to the deck, nor know where I can get one FAST.
Thanks for the help,
Chris
