  • LiveType project settings for 1080p timeline?

I’m confused what project settings to select for creating text to use in a 1080p 29.97 timeline in FCP7. I see HDTV 1080i and HDTV 720p. Why isn’t there a 1080p option?

Anyway, I chose 720p because choosing progressive seems better than interlaced, but when I change the frame rate from 24 fps (which is the default) to 29.97, it changes the preset from my chosen HDTV 720p to HDV 720p30. Why does it do this? Does it make a difference? If it does, I can’t tell.

Also, does it matter if the frame rate of a text file is different from the frame rate of a project in FCP7? I can see how it would matter if there’s motion in the text, but I’m just using regular text, so was curious if it matters if a 24 fps LiveType text file is in a 29.97 timeline. Thanks.

If it’s just a static graphic, just use 1080i. It will look fine.

Does it matter what the frame rate of the text is?
