    Live View for Video on the 7D?

    Lately, I’ve had trouble with shooting video on my 7D. I power the camera on fine, but when I flip the switch for video, the shutter won’t open and I get an error message (just says error) on the LCD display on top. (Firmware V 2.0.3) I shoot rarely with this camera, so maybe the shutter is just sticking? I have no clue. lol

    Question: Should I have Live View enabled or disabled? Is this even an issue? Does the latest firmware take care of any issues?

    Also, is there trouble with 3rd party batteries? I keep reading info for and against.Is there any definitive info on that subject?

    Well you can’t shoot video without the live view mode so I guess you should fix that.

    Depends on the battery. Some work, some don’t.

    I beg to differ. If I go into the menu, no matter which setting is on or off (enable or disable) I can still shoot video. My question is whether or not the function affects the shutter. Which setting should it be on for video inside the menu?
