Live Type seems to have “gone bad” on one of our FCStudio boxes. Can Live Type be uninstalled and re-installed independently of everything else, or do I have to completely re-install Studio? Thanks.

What exactly do you mean by “gone bad”?

There are no “technical solutions” to your “artistic problems”.

You can install it independently but it’s not easy IIRC. You need a shareware app call PACIFIST that will open up the installation package’s paylod files and allow you pick and choose which to install.

but before you do all that, try to figure out what’ s wrong with LT. Reinstalling Apple software is a last ditch effort, usually unnecessary waste of time since the cause is most likely external and will simply repeat. Apple rp apps are remarkably robust, maybe you just need to trash the prefs.

BTW Livetype is currently broken if you have installed all the latest updates!

Have you tried “Search Posts”? Enlightenment may be there.

I believe its only broken on Intel machines, not PowerPCs

It is not. My Intels are up to date as of last week, 04-30-2008. Everything works fine.

Unless, of course, something happened over the weekend.

Yes, it is broken, especially on the 2008 8-core Mac Pro machines. Everything made in Livetype that gets rendered in FCP 6.0.3/QT 7.4.5 renders solid black. It works fine on the Intel MBP.

Old projects that are opened, play fine as long as you don’t change anything and render it…

As Walter pointed out, the FCP beta testing program is in serious need of some changes. I can see not being able to test third party stuff, but how in the hell can you release updates without testing it on your own stuff… you know, the stuff hat comes in the same box as FCP!
