Can anyone clue me in on what to do about Closing gaps within the Art that Im importing into Live Trace?

By this I mean that the Art that I want to color, has gaps that when I go to Live Paint, the Color Bleeds into another part that I want to have as a different Color.

I know that I can crank up the Threshold to make the lines thicker and longer, but this defeats the purpose of keeping the Art as is, without basically ruining the Image.

Would I go to Live Trace, then expand, and then would I be able to move an idividual point and stretch it to make the line close the gap? If so, how do I do this?

    Thanks in advance.
