I am in the very very early process of putting together a web video show. I want to do a live studio shoot but also have a feed from a camera source in another state. I have heard I may be able to use Final Cut Pro as a “switcher” taking feed from multiple sources. Does anyone know if this is possible, and if so how to do it? I would need to somehow get the signal from the out of state camera over the internet, and be able to switch between shots. If final cut cannot do this is there any other software that you would suggest?

FCP cannot do switching of live video. It only works with already captured video.

You cannot do this with FCP. Take a look at Tricaster or VT5, both from Newtek.

This is what you want. NOT FCP.
