    Hi there,

    We are preparing a shoot on HD-CAM with the Sony 900 camera and the SR deck (don’t know the exact specifications).
    We would like to be able to capture live on set with FCP and its ‘Capture Now’ Feature. Actually, in our test setup everything is working without a hitch, we just don’t get the timecode right through RS422, although we can connect to the SR deck and the TC actually gets read (I can see so in the Blackmagic Deck Control software). When I try to capture without RS422 it works fine (set to non-controllable deck). Switching to RS422 however results in an instant error message from FCP saying that Capture Now has reached the end of the tape and all footage has been captured.

    1 – Has anyone come up with a solution for this issue, would it work with the hardware suggested in the following thread?

    2 – Would it be possble to have a Capture Now function in Decklink Deck Control software to enable this?

    3 – Is there any way to trick FCP into believing that there is actually a tape playing on the deck so it would be able to perform a ‘Capture Now’?

    Thanks in advance, Rob

    Does sony F900 have HD-SDI out?
    I have used sony 750 series and BMD deck controll can use SDI embeded TC
    By today there is no soloution for FCP to capture embeded TC and to have the SR give out timecode on the fly, well – it might work but most likley it wont – (gut feeling)
    So just use BMD deck controll and evrything will work (if the SDI has embeded Time Code)

    I noticed indeed that BMD deck control showed the TimeCode in the app. But I am afraid that it is impossible to have deck control do “Capture Now” as FCP does, or am I wrong?

    Did you spend 10 seconds to look at the menus in the Deck Control application? Did you notice:
    Movie->Capture Now?
