Live Camera Feed
At the Church I work at I need to run 3 – 75′ cables up to 3 MiniDV Cameras on our stage.
What would be the most cost effective cable/conversion?
Currently I have a mess of BNC cables coupled together (the cable was left over from our antennas for our wireless mics). The cable leaves the Booth BNC and up at the camera I have a BNC to female RCA adapter. The quality seems to be fine. I would like to get 3 new runs up to the stage.

Cameras:
1 – Sony PD-170
2 – Canon XL-1Switcher
Panasonic AG-MX70What would you suggest? These feeds would be used several times a week.

I would get s-video cables.

We just discussed this in another forum and apparently a solution that is growing in popularity due to economics of long S-video runs or firewire is to use cat-5 ethernet cable, splitting out pairs and using baluns to run an s-video or even component (beta)signal back. If you are happy using composite video, you have even more runs in an ethernet “snake”. Alternately, the spare pairs can be used to run tally lights or intercoms, with proper adptors/connectors. Markertek is one source for the baluns, there are others.
