I need to know if there’s any way that I can capture (through any Final Cut Studio program) audio that is playing directly on my computer.

In other words, if there is streaming audio playing on the computer, can Final Cut (or even Soundtrack Pro) “grab” that audio and capture it directly into the program, saving it as an audio file? I need to edit non-downloadable audio directly from a website. I used to be able to do this with Total Recorder, but I don’t have that software anymore, and I’d like to use existing software that’s part of Final Cut Studio.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Is this even possible?

    Thanks,
    Chris

    Hi Chris,

there is a free tool that let’s you do exactly that: It’s called SoundFlower by Cycling74. It let’s you route audio from one application to another. Basically in the application you want to record from you select the SoundFlower Output and on the application you want to record to (FCP) you select the SoundFlower Input as source,

The app is for free and works great although I haven’t personally used it with FCP yet but with plenty of other apps (Logic Pro etc.).

Documentation and download are here: https://cycling74.com/products/soundflower/

    Good luck,
