    I’ve been asked to create a video with a style similar to the one in this link: https://youtube.com/watch?v=9pKujuTgtL0

    I’m not sure if I will create it in After Effects or Final Cut yet. It seems to me that the creator just cut out frames and slowed things down in certain parts and that it would be relatively easy to replicate the style. My question is: can anyone give me any pointers or advice when creating something like this? Can anyone point me in the direction of a good tutorial on this?

    Thx in advance!

    I’ve worked with stuff like this in FCP by chopping out every couple of frames and then using Delete to remove them and close the gap. How many depends on the direction you’re looking for. It’s time consuming to do it the way I did it, but I’d feel like a cheat if I used some plugin.

    Yeah, the snow idea is similar to what I’m talking about. So you created this video by just pulling frames? It turned out cool.

    Thanks for the advice!

    Search the COW for “stop motion”. This has been discussed, but as Dave wrote, shooting it first is the best way. Although clients often think anything can be done in post …

    This old expression from Dan is good, it goes on Time Remap and shows every 4th frame:

    n = 4;
    n*time

    Change n to any number you want.

    Posterize is a good place to start, so are the numerous versions of Strobe from various 3rd party plugin packages.

    This is my standard sigfile so do not take it personally: “For crying out loud, read the freakin’ manual.”
