What’s of concern is that the Feds allow you to travel with:

    – Passengers are allowed an unlimited number batteries whose equivalent lithium content per battery is less than 8 gr.

    – Each passenger can also carry no more than two lithium-ion batteries that contain more than 8 gr. of equivalent lithium content per battery.

They don’t seem that concerned as to completely ban them.

All lithiums pack a tremendous punch. Even laptop batteries, or Mini Dv, HDV decks – your cell phone – all have these same rechargeable lithiums. My laptop battery – an Apple 17inch Duo Core 2 imploded and I noticed this while on a flight. Nothing happened.

Best to carry-on two batteries 160w’s. You shouldn’t need more than two 160w’s on most shoots anyway. If you need more power – try a combination of two 95w batteries in which you can have as many as you want.

The best thing is to do some research and find respectable products on the market. Ask about the batteries, who makes them, what cell grade is used, references, etc.

Here is a reliable manufacture and site:

Lets not create a panic – flying today is already too complicated.

    Thanks Jerry for you info.

Here’s some other battery options that are proven. I’ve been using these Batteries with excellent results and they have far exceeded my expectations for quality and power.

And for something really cool, these guys can re-cell your old sealed Anton’s. I tried them on a whim and was blown away. They laser cut them open, rebuild them and seal them up. They have been my workhorse batts until my new HD camera.
