I would love to have this too!

The problem is, software error codes are usually used so that only the programmer of the software knows the problem. This is to stop hackers and others from finding out how the application works(also as a short cut code to the location). They pop up the error code so that you can feed back it to the programmers and they can see if it’s a bug or help you troubleshoot.

The problem that I have with FCP is that it just says “general error” and nothing else to help you. I consider this to be a big problem and I think Apple should change it.
