    Hi All,

I have a FCP project 72min long which I rendered out to a smaller file size as a QT movie and then imported it into Sound Track Pro to add the soundtrack / effects.

I then rendered all the sound (incl original video sound) out and imported into FCP. I then rendered the entire video out (2.5days to render) and then watched it.

The picture is too fast for the sound… Have I done something wrong or am I missing something?

I’m not a professional editor so please be gentle!

    My specs:
    2.66GHz Intel Core Duo
    4GB Memory
    250gb hard drive @ 7200
    NVIDIA GeForce 9400M graphics
Final Cut Studio 2 all up to date

    Thank you for your help!

Make sure you stick with one sample rate. DV audio is generally 48kHz, but CD quality is 44.1kHz. You have probably exported from soundtrack at 48kHz and put that into a 44.1kHz timeline. Go back and make sure your project and sequence settings in FCP and Soundtrack are all at the same sample rate. Hopefully that is where you’ve gone wrong.

[David Hartnett] “You have probably exported from soundtrack at 48kHz and put that into a 44.1kHz timeline.”

Actually that isn’t likely at all. Show me an Easy Setup with 44.1khz audio.

The important thing we need to know is how much is the sync difference. Try to measure how many frames you need to nudge to resync after exactly one hour so we can work out a percentage. Also search this forum for Jeremy’s often quoted solution to reimporting broadcast wav files that drift sync in FCP. Frame rates, drop/ non drop timecode and mismatched timelines are the common culprits, not sample rates.

    Thanks David for your imput.

I did go home and look at the export properties and noticed that they didn’t match the timeline in FCP.

I corrected them, re-exported the .wav file and placed it on the timeline. I played it back and it seems to have worked for me.

I did however turn on the existing soundtrack and play both the .wav file and existing audio together and they were slightly off, only very slight.

Thank you for your help… I’ve had a real learning curve with FCS and although it’s been a headache I’m learning loads thanks to you guys here on Creative Cow!

    Regards,

    Pino
