Lip syncing
I’m doing some animation in after effects, in which I need to do some lip syncing. I was wondering, what would be the easiest way to achieve this? Should I animate just the mouths in flash, then import the .swf’s into after effects? After effects seems to be pretty crappy with audio, atleast from my experiences using it. I’m really not sure what to do and I don’t have much time to experiment because the project is due soon. So what do you guys thing would be a good solution? Thank you very much.

Audio works fine for me in AE. If experimentation is out of the Q, then the good ole’ eyeball should do the trick. If you’re comfortable with masks, then I suggest you animated the mouths in AE. You can re-name the masks according to the type of sounds that you make, then copy and paste those sounds that are repeated as and when required.

if it is just quick and rough lip sync, you can create 2 positions, open, and closed. (lets say using reshape or liquify)
Then you can convert audio to keyframes and link an expression from your reshape or liquify effect percentage to the audio amplitude keyframes.for more control look into creating a few different mouth positions (for different sounds)
and maybe use Trapcode sound keys to drive the keyframes. -
