  • Linking layer styles across compositions

I have more than a few compositions that all have layers that are different from each other except for their layer styles and effects (like they all should have the same drop shadow). I now need to alter them all after making some changes to the overall look.

There has to be a way to make it so changing the style and effects of a layer in one composition changes the rest of the specified layers for the entire project, even across compositions.

I’d set up a master layer somewhere with all your settings. Then just use the pick whip to link all the other settings to the master. You’ll want to have the timelines of both comps open at the same time. This assumes that the settings you want to link will accept expressions.
