I’m new to Resolve and the whole Avid to Resolve workflow. I’m working on a project that has both Red footage and dpx files. When I brought the AAF into Resolve it reconnected with the Red footage fine but I had to manually relink all of the dpx files. Which was okay since it was a 5 minute film, but I really want to avoid that in the future in case I work on anything longer. Then, when I exported the workflow in Resolve to an AAF and opened it in Avid, the same thing happened. The converted red footage relinked, but not the dpx files. Basically in order to get around that I exported a full MXF of the whole movie from Resolve, important that into Avid, and chopped the dpx scenes out of that. Again – an okay work around but not if it’s a much longer movie.

This has happened before with other mixed media projects that I’ve worked on.

Is there something I’m doing wrong? How do I avoid this? Just trying to figure it out so I’m not spending hours and hours doing work-arounds.

Anyone have advice on mixed media workflows?
