    Hi Guy’s

I have a problem with the External Matte Support in Da Vinci.

I have created a alpha Matte in Silhoutte v4 and renderd it out as a DPX Sequence.
Then I moved over to Da Vinci add the Sequenc and the Footage (r3d) to the Media Pool, and this is where i get stuck.
From the Da Vinci Manual i can assume, that i have to somehow link the Matte to the associated media, but can anybody tell me how i have to do this?

It is the first time i work with external Mattes and also the first time that i used Silhoutte, so maybe there is a mistake that i’m doing even before i go in to Da Vinci.

    Thanks for any help
    Silvana

You have to link the matte in the browse screen media pool and then you can access it within a node in the color page.

Within the media pool, select the clip that the matte needs to be associated with, now in the clip details window, select the matte, right click and select, …. Matte…
You will see in the media pool the image clip now has an indicator showing an associated file.
Now in node graph, right click to add matte, link as needed.

With 8.0 you can use single channel or 3 channel mattes.

    I think not yet 🙁

But, peter, is possible to import a prores 4444 with alpha and select the same file for “set as matte”?. didn’t work for me. can be easy to implement?.

Peter, what is 3 channel matte?. Import 3 different mattes at the same time?

really? 3 channel mattes!? Very cool! Can you explain the mechanics of that? In other words if I load a material ID pass from another software that has RED, GREEN, BLUE, YELLOW, MAGENTA, CYAN, can I simply key those to generate alphas?

Or does it have a mechanism which separates out the RGB into locked channels?

    Hi,

Any more information about three channel mattes would be appreciated!

I didn’t see them in the Resolve manual.

    Thanks,

    sean
