…maybe dumb question: how do I “add” a link button (to our site) to my signature on cow’ profile ???

The signature field in your profile allows for html. If you would like to put a link there you must use the HTML code for a link as follows:
<a href=”PUT THE URL OF YOUR LINK HERE”>Text</a>
My signature is also an example:
