  • Lining up events with snapping, solid blue line vs. dotted blue line?

Posted by Robby Huang on October 18, 2011 at 4:27 pm

Hi everyone, so I am confused as to how lining up events in Sony Vegas works. I am using Platinum 11.

When I line up events with snapping, it will normally show a solid blue line and line the two events up, like this:

But sometimes, there will be a dotted blue line like this:

And when you zoom in, there is clearly a gap between the two clips like this:

However, when you play it back, there is no visible gap between them. Can anyone explain exactly what is happening here? Thanks in advance!

Does this happen with every instance of using snapping to put events against each other? I’ve seen this occasionally ever since I turned on frame by frame editing, and assume it has to do with lining up frames. But I don’t see it very often.

Well, I found it in the help files, but I don’t understand how my events are getting off whole frames in the first place.

Make sure Quantize to Frames is enabled.

Yup, it’s enabled, which is why it’s weird to me that when I put events in the timeline they would ever not be on whole frames.
