    Hey everyone!
I was wondering how to do the effect at the beginning of this video – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fk8GCKO5mw4
The effect is where it like draws the scene and then plays the video. I thought I could use the ‘find edges’ effect somehow and then have it near the end have some keyframes using the ‘blend with original’ option on the ‘find edges’ effect but I couldnt find out how to get it to work.

So if anyone can tell me how the effect in the beginning of the video is done in after effects CS3 I would really like that.

    All the help appreciated,
    Nicholas

It looks like a combination of the Toonit plugin and animated masks.

In this ‘ToonIt’ plug-in is there like a ‘draw’ option or something that you just tell it to appear like its drawing? Is there a tutorial similar to what I am wanting to do? How do I use animated masks and is there a tutorial on that?

    Thanks,
    Nicholas

ToonIt is a filter, it will automatically generate the lines between regions of high contrast.

“Write On” is the effect you’ll probably want to use to reveal the drawing, look for a tutorial on that.
