Hi, I am new to using Sony Vegas, but have been experimenting with rendering to 1440 x 1080 WMV and MP4’s, from my original HD 1980×1080 25fps footage.

Here is the problem I am encountering:

I have noticed when the WMV is played on my Vista PC (which has decent RAM and graphics card) that a horizontal line appears every now and again in the clip, as if it is split in half or sliced for a few split seconds, like a flickering. I upgraded my NVidea Gforce 9800 graphics card driver, but this made no difference. I have the latest windows media player too, so its not that either.

The MP4 played perfectly in Quicktime player on the same pc.

Ok, I then tested both files on another Windows 9 pc, and they both played perfectly, no splitting or lines appeared, so it can’t be the file can it?

Then, to confuse matters even more, I tested both files on another slightly slower vista machine, and wierdly, the WMV played perfectly, but it was the MP4 that then had the wierd line and flickering effect.

When I say lines, I dont mean the interlacing type lines, I mean like one line that appears across as if the picture is split and moved slightly.

Hope that makes sense to someone out there, but I am stuck as to how to alleviate this annoying problem.

    Any Advice?

    Many thanks!
