  Limit the the number of import layers?

  I’ve created a composition in Illustrator and want to bring it into After Effects. Is there a limit to the number of layers that can be imported from an Iluustrator file? The composition is similar to a city grid with all the buildings and streets.

  I would like to animate the sort of construction of this comp. Have the streets be revealed, the building pop up one by one, etc.
  I seem to be having import problems.
