  • lighting issues with playback in time line

Posted by Martin Jordan on May 14, 2010 at 12:38 am

Been editing a piece in FCP 7.0.2 and when I stop playing it in the time line the lighting, levels, everything looks fine.

But when I hit the space bar and start playing the sequence in the time line suddenly the picture gets a lot darker as it’s playing back.

To test this, I generated a QT .mov and the lighting looks fine in that output.

So something changes duringI play back.

I have full quality chosen to the left of my time line and I don’t see anything in my pref’s. that raises a flag.

What can I do to make the play back not shift in color, lighting or basically go darker?

Get faster drives to store the media on. Talking eSATA, miniSAS…faster than firewire connection.

I have a very fast 4tb eSATA RAID. 545mbps. I have never experienced this before in any other editing projects.

Something has changed. That’s why I went to my Pref’s. settings but I don’t see anything there.

It’s something to do with the preview mode I think.

I just went to another pretty extensive project that I did a little bit ago and it’s not doing it there. I noticed on the play back settings on that project to the left in the time line I have a lot more options.

But in the project I’m editing now very few. Don’t know how to expand my options like in the other project.

    See attached screen captures.

Never mind I figured it out.

I had to change my sequence settings.

    Thanks anyway Shane.

    What was the codec?

I only see that when different codecs were used.

Can you share your solution to help the broader community?

    David

    Peace

I was going to explain more but I didn’t think most people would care.

    Thx for the nudging.
