Lighting Help Please!
Hello, I’m fairly new to 3D coming from a background in Illustration and 2D Animation. Could someone please take the time to have a look at the animation and image on the links below and advise me how to get a similar lighting set up, preferably somewhere between the two.

I’ve figured out that they have used Ambient Occlusion and have been graded in other software, what I’m more interested in is the technicalities of the light set up (type, position) and shadow parameters etc…

Hard to judge the second one with all the blur and flare. The first looks like they used a key light to represent the sun, with area shadows, and then either a light dome for fill, or maybe a couple of fill lights without shadows. It’s also possible that they used global illumination.
Generally you want to use infinite lights for sky lighting unless you’re going for a stylized look.
