    i’m trying to completely get rid of the light wireframe. I understand that I can do a ram preview and it will go away, but I’m frustrated that I cant just drag through my project without seeing it.

    CTRL+ALT+SHIFT+H will hide all layer controls.

    Dang! Now that I’ve written it, me thinks youmay not require the SHIFT. But try teh combinations and you’ll get it.
