I tried the Light Streaks 2 tutorial by Andrew Kramer(https://www.videocopilot.net/tutorials.html?id=34) in my own video but I came across a little problem: If I move the streaks over the Z-axis there’s no problem the streaks get a nice shape, but if I move over the X or Y axis all I get is lines.

I get whats causing this problem but I can’t seem to figure out how to solve it.

I tried creating the particles layer in 3D(+copy and rotate the layer on x and y) but as soon as I put it in my composition it becomes 2D again…

does any one know any other way to solve this,
    thx in advance

Btw: sorry if my question wasn’t really crystal clear, it’s kinda hard to explain…

    well, it’s clear… a bit repetitive…

First, make sure your layers are 3D layers if you’re going to manipulate them in 3D.

The problem is the layer is flat and the effect happens on the 2D plane of the layer in 3D space within the plugin, so manipulating the layer itself isn’t going to solve your problem.

You need to move the emitter in 3D space, and move the camera around the emitter and vice versa to get a nice look.

it’s possible that you are trying to do something that this technique isn’t meant for… Some people out there have done the effect in different ways. There are a few videos on youtube where guys have adapted the effect or mimicked it, and you might be able to get some info on how they’re doing what they’re doing from them.

Sorry I can’t be more helpful, but I’m short on time… I’ll look at the effect on my own (again) and see if I can figure out how to work around the 3D limitations.

    Thx for your time…
I’ll try messing around with it a bit.
