    Hey everyone,

I am trying to achieve an effect in which a door is opened and tons of light shines through, similar to this picture:

    https://www.shutterstock.com/pic-31821478/stock-photo-light-door.html

I have shot the footage and keyed out the background (the stuff behind the door) in Motion, but I am now stuck on a way to get the desired effect. It’s as almost if I want the light layer to bleed into the door layer.

Any help would be much appreciated.

    Cheers,

    Jesse.

A starting point could be to draw a solid white rectangle shape that fills the space in the doorway, add a glow and/or light rays filter to it, and then start playing with the parameters, including the softness of the shape.

You might also find some useful ideas in this Light Wrap tutorial for Motion.

    Hi
    Just adding my 2 cents
    – go with the rectangle and add a glow filter
You could try animate a mask over it if the doors is opening.

And then just place a rectangle on the “floor” for the light spilling out from the doorway.
    upload the finished effect.
    Goodluck
