thanks to aharon rabinowitz’ great podcasts on displacement mapping i was able to create a text layer being nicely animated as if it was the surface of water.
now to spice this up a little, i would like to add a light reflection effect, as if the sun was directly shining onto the water.
it would be nice if the reflections were as intense as to create short flashes into the camera, according to the animation.
i hope i managed to make myself clear.

unfortunately, i have no idea how to go at an effect like this.
maybe do some of you know sources of information? somewhere i could read or watch?
or maybe is this thing easy enough to describe it in here?

    thanks in advance.

    Hi there

If the effect you want to create is the one I’m thinking, you just have to apply the plug in Starglow from http://www.trapcode.com and change the color to white.

Take a look at the site, there is an example of water reflection…

Simply create a White Solid, then make a trapezoid mask shape over your water footage with the Pen tool (get it? so it would look like the sun is far away), then, simply play with the Blending Modes (maybe Add would be good). After that, you could play with the mask feather or add the Glow effect by adjusting the Glow Radius.

    Hope that helped.

Fractal noise, high contrast, animated, with glow added?
