    Cinema 10 – architectural version

Ive modelled this entrance and cannot get the external light bright enough. Im trying to achieve the brightness of the prepass.

Im using an object with glow, an area light and the default settings of the sponge environment from the architectural version

    Area light
-sat under the glow object with the same dimensions as the glow object.
    -Show illumination true
    -shadow maps soft
    -intensity 100%
    -outerradius at 10mm
    -aspect radius 1
    -contrast 0%
-Fall off 180 degrees and samples 200
    -show in render TRUE
-fall off inverse square with radius decay of 9mm (could this be the mistake, is it falling to quick?????)
-Fall off is 100% inner radius 5mm outer 15mm (15mm covers the top 3rd of the door so you can see teh scale)
    – lense flare enabled

    THE GLOW Object
This has a material with Glow enabled
inner strength and outer strength 500%
    Radius 10mm
    (f) = 1

    luminance of this material 900%

Sureley this render should be burning your eyes. The prepass starts to look great. then the render dulls it all down 🙁 I want to achieve the light settings of the prepass. please see image that is half rendered with 100% prepass. Your help would be greatly appreciated and im running out of time to keep testing the render to find its too dull.

[Bryan Richards] “sat under the glow object”
under or behind? – if behind does the glow object have a composite tag to not cast shadows

what are the GI settings and does the scene have any AO (either in materials or the whole scene)?

The area light is underneath the the glow/luminance object so this object does allow shadow so the light doesnt pass up and through to the rest of the building.

Global Illumination (standard) is set at 100% with 300 stocastic samples min res 20 max 200
Ambiant Occlusion is applied to scene Ray length 0-100mm, dispersion 100, samples 10-128 and 0% contrast

AO could be a problem scene wide since the door is recessed the whole thing would be darker. Try turning the AO off and see what you get
