January 30, 2009 at 1:55 amOne of the best ways I use to create lightleaks and other old or damaged film effects is to overlay footage of actual damaged film. This creates a much more realistic looking effect than utilizing many plug-ins or filters. I was able to get film damage footage in DV resolution for free by searching the web. G film also has a nice set of plug-ins that create other types of film damage, but for lightleaks, roll-outs and other effects of that sort I would go with compositing actual footage.
Good luck.

January 30, 2009 at 3:42 amSure…this is doable. But the built in effects and bought ones can’t quite do it justice. Artbeats.com has light leaks and film effects just for this purpose. And I recently completed a tutorial for them on the subject…how to use the light leaks and film effects in Avid and FCP.
Found here, at the top: https://www.artbeats.com/video_tutorials

January 30, 2009 at 5:14 amI use https://www.istockphoto.com for this kind of thing. They have a pretty big library of light leaks and film looks. You have to pay per clip though.

June 2, 2011 at 10:51 pmGo to cinegrain.com.
It’s the best option I’ve seen for this, and it’s not per clip. The indie bundle it a steal when you compare it to artbeats.

May 13, 2014 at 3:46 pmI think https://www.luxuryleaks.com/ offers a really professional looking light leak package. They give you a ton of them too.
It might be easier to download those instead of making them yourself.
