light following masking … point light (glow)

mooooooooooooooooooooooi hav a query
i am having the outline of a xmas tree.
i would like to give it the write on effect, for which i can use vector paint in animated mode or the animated masks to reveal those lines….what i want is that it should get animated as if a glow is drawing those lines…
so should i manually animated the glow position or can i link the position of the glow to make it automated ????is there any way to link the position of the glow to the revealing of the mask or the animation point (brush )of the vector paint ???
any expressions ?please help me in this regard..

dont know an expression.
but if you make another layer with a stroke/vegas effect that draws only a wandering point with high contrast to the image it should be pretty easy to track this point.
im sorry, no elegant way…

If you are using masks, you can simply copy&paste the mask to the position property of another layer or point effect control and adjust the timing. Vector Paint won’t give you that option. A simple Auto Trace on the contours of the Xmas tree to generate masks should not be a problem, so I’d take that route. You can create the glow spark by building it in a pre-comp or using lensflare effects. If you’re short on ideas how to do that, check my lensflare tutorail here at the COW. It contains a few techniques you could use.
