    Hi All,

G5 Quad 5.5gigs RAM running an LHe. OS 10.4.11, QT7.2, was running Kona 2.01 drivers. Has been working without a hitch for 6 months. Nothing changed on the system (I’m a great believer in ‘if it ain’t broke…)

I come in this morning and find that FCP no longer sees the Kona card. In fact, Kona control panel doesn’t see it either. Nada – just a report of ‘Kona card or software not installed or missing’.

I’ve updated to the latest drivers (3.4 for FCP5.14 under Tiger) but still no joy. I’m getting 2 green lights on the Kona board, and no errors reported anywhere else in the system – and I’m stumped.

    Any suggestions gratefully appreciated…

    Jason

OK, after a morning of no joy, I obviously prostrated myself under the edit desk enough times to appease the Gods of Video Hardware as, for no apparent reason (i.e no cause and effect that I could fathom) it’s started working again. Ho hum.

So, moral – if all else fails, crawl under the desk and wait awhile. Worked for me.

I usually curse at it (“piece of s#$%”), and kick it a few times. Oops – don’t tell anyone I do this !

OK, update – DEFINITELY file under WSH (wierd s**t happens)…

This morning – boot up and bam, no Kona card. Bu**er.

Off to spend some time under the desk.

Bob, I’ll try cursing some. See if it reduces under-desk time.

    Meantimes, any other suggestions?

    Jason

    Hmmm…..

Rebooted the system and all seems OK. Any ideas about the test procedure or any gotchas that I might be overlooking?

Did you uninstall the old drivers before installing the new ones?

Yup, as per instructions… funny thing is it works fine when it does work, if you see what I mean. I’ve checked for loose connections – were running a KL Box too, but everything seems OK there.

One thing – when I have rebooted the machine prior to it working, I’ve run the AJA Control Panel before launching FCP. Could anything within FCP ‘disable’ the card?

    Best,

    Jason

The card could be loose or incorrectly seated I guess… Anybody accidentally kick the tower while you weren’t looking?
