I have a new G5, FCP 5, and Kona LH board. Want to be ready to edit DVC Pro HD. However, until then, I edit a lot of DV Cam stuff. Should I bypass the board altogether and do everything firewire or are there benefits to using the board?

If I can benefit by using the Kona, what setup would you suggest?

    Thanks for all you help.

you spent the money for the Kona board – then use it ! You will love it.
Simply plug in one video cable from HD-SDI out of your AJ-HD1200A and plug the
RS422 cable between the Kona and the VTR, and away you go. You are doing HD editing. If you own professional DV Cam equipment, like a Sony DSR-1500, DSR-1600, DSR-45, DSR-1800, DSR-2000, you will use the same method. There are very good reasons to work this way, as you will see once you start doing it.

Use the excellent equipment that you own.
