With some archival video there is lots of opportunity to adjust levels to (re)capture dynamic range. But I am baffled by the terms used in the Levels video effect. “Start/End”?

In Help, it says, in part, “… as it is captured coming into Vegas.” How is it used, “as it is captured …” ?

I use the scopes throughout the process (I became addicted to scopes while working in a video production studio) and of course one can see the effect of the Levels slider movements but the terminology (“Input Start, Input End”???) baffles me.

So I am not sure what I am looking at; similar to black level, amplitude, knee and so on?

    Thanks for a great forum.

    Yours,
    Mike
