Ive done a complicated levels tweak and now need to slide ALL my levels along the track – how is this accomplished?

Alternatively is there a plugin that auto-dips levels according to vox on another track (like in garage band)

    Hi
Your question doesn’t make immediate sense to me, so is unanswerable ;-(
Since FCP has no facility to ‘tweak’ levels of the timeline audio tracks independently of the clips thereupon, if you slide the clips forward/back in time then the level tweaks remain attached, and slide accordingly.

If you wish to apply an overall level alteration to all the clips on a particular track, you can easily do this by selecting all that track (T on the keyboard) then using Modify Menu>Audio>Gain+

If you mean you want to move a V/O track whilst keeping a music track locked in place, then the easiest way to slide the level dips behind the V/O around is to use the razor tool on the music track, then use Modify>Audio>Gain- to lower the music level behind the V/O. Put a cross dissolve transition at each music track level change.

This is very quick to do, as it can all be done from the keyboard, and the level change cross dissolves can be slid around as required, to remain in sync with the V/O sections.

Thank you for your effort Paul and on the contrary I think you have answered my query:
[PaulD] “FCP has no facility to ‘tweak’ levels of the timeline audio tracks independently of the clips thereupon, if you slide the clips forward/back in time then the level tweaks remain attached, and slide accordingly.”

In case someone knows different I have explained myself in more detail:

Using the pen tool; I put many audio level adjustments directly into my music track thus avoiding voice and music “fighting”.
Unfortunately some extra lines of dialog have since been added to our script and I now need to move some of my audio level adjustments down the timeline (in sync with the extended dialog track) whilst keeping the actual music track unedited.

    Hi
As I explained my workaround involves using the razor tool rather than the pen tool, which I very rarely use.

But I would think that the Paste Attributes option could be used to paste a whole clips worth of pen-tool keyframes into a new relative position, by temporarily changing the clips in-point before doing the paste, then resetting it..

    Mark,

Have a play with the Mixer Tool. You can automate mixing just like a real mixer using the mouse to drag the fader up and down around dialog.

We do all our mixing outside FCP but once I had to do a quick mix for a client within FCP and that is how I did it. Much quicker than playing with individual keyframes. Also I think you will find it is affecting the track level and is in addition to the clip based levels so I think it might be what you are actually after. You will need to enable the mixer to write keyframes. By default it is switched off.
