Letus 35 Ultimate – shakiness
I’m predominantly a “preditor”, but I do help sort out basic technical issues relating to cameras at work. Needing some help here from the camera pros about the Letus35 Ultimate adapter.
We recently used the Letus on a shoot using a Sony Z1-P camera and shooting at HDV 1080i, 25fps. The rig was fixed at a reputable camera rental shop by an experienced DP and was operated by a seasoned DP, who had researched the Letus but was using it for the first time. We monitored using an Ikan V8000W monitor via component output [learnt from the experience – the fact that it still overscanned by about 5% meant we didn’t discover that we should’ve zoomed in more].
After capturing the footage into FCP, we realize that on the tele tight shots, the shots are a little jittery. Even though the camera was on sticks, level ground and had minimal movement [mostly some racks and pans]. We’re suspecting it has to do wih the spinning ground glass system, which was set at 99, on advice of the rental house.
Anybody able to provide an educated guess or advice on avoiding this shot jitter when using the Letus Ultimate? We have an upcoming project which we’re planning to use lenses as well but because of this jitter on tight shots [the project require very tight and still shots], we might need to shell out a bit more for a camera that takes interchangeable lenses directly.
