hello …. i need to do an effect several times for a commercial : i need to show the letters of a name, one after one, centered into a square. This effect will be done 10 times, so i’d like to find a way to do it easely, without making a layer for each letter … I almost found a way to do it, typing my text, reducing kerning to -800(to put it all in front of each other) and animating opacity : then i can make it appear one after one …. but they are not centered !! they are justified on the left ….

Is there a plug, a trick, an expression that could help me ?

    Thanx a lot ….

Try setting the justification to centered (with the paragraph palette), use a monospaced font like Courier, add a tracking animator to get the characters roughly centered, then pickwhip the Tracking Amount to a slider to fine-tune it to the fractional value necessary to get them centered. Not sure if you can live with the monospaced font though.

well … the font i must use is not monospaced …. it would have been too easy …. what you describe is what i have already done (just didn’t put it in an animator, ’cause i din’t need it to be animated …) … and the text is not centerd (especially small characters like “i”)

    another suggestion ?
