I shot a project at 1080 60i 30fps. I am so glad I had letterbox in the canvas when I cut it but how did I do it? I had only done it before by bringing in a QT file to the timeline. I am also having to render the red when I bring in my clips to the timeline and render again if I move it again. Thank you for the return message.

Did your sequence settings match what you captured the footage at? If it doesn’t, you would have to render it. Also, if you drop in 16×9 footage into a 4×3 sequence, it will scale it down and basically “letterbox” it for you.
