Letterbox HD movies in Boris RED Composition clip
Hello,
I will explain how I’ve been doing this…
Please let me know if there is an easier/better/faster way (i.e. from m100i timeline)
To letterbox HD quicktime files for integration into 4:3 SD projects my workflow is:
-Launch Boris RED as a standalone
-Set project settings as 4:3 29.97 (with intentions to export for m100i 4:3 project)
-Add movie media into Boris timeline and scale down to fit
-drop a black color fill below the movie media, for the duration of the movie.
-Set export settings
-import resulting quicktime file into m100i.Can this be done from a Composition clip in m100i v8.2.3 with Boris Red 4?

If you have RED already, you can do the same in Media 100 i using your copy of RED. Create a Composition Clip in the Media 100 timeline, and do the same as you are doing in the RED standalone version. Locate your source media file from the RED file browser, and scale it to your needs. Then render inside of Media 100.
