I’m surprised a search turned up almost nothing…

you’ve got a shot, it’s got a big black gate hair sticking into the frame. What do you do? Does it work?

I’m working on a couple shot that are driving me crazy – the shot is moving, there are bright light flashing, and this hair is super noticeable. I’m doing the typical mask it out, blur out the section below, add some grain… it looks ok, but it still looks glaring.

simple wire removal effect may work (it may take several of them if the hair is curly). also, masking out the hair, then placing a copy of the footage bellow the original, but offset it a bit to hide the hair may work too….

both of those would work best if the hair was stationary, if it is moving around, it will be trickier…

Yeah, it’d be nice if anyone knew of a wire removal technique for curved hair. What I usually do is mask the hair out, blur a second layer below, then add the grain back in to the blurred layer. This has worked for me on lots of occasions with small bits of dust and hair. But areas of detail are trickier.

Anyone else want to pipe in with their AE techniques?
