Let AE use proxy with imported comp

I needed to do some rotoscoping on some text. So I sent some video over to an AfterEffects file, matched the camera, added some 3D text, did some rotoscoping. Everything looked good…in After Effects. The proxy is working just fine there. I am at home, so don’t have the footage, but I have all the proxies.
So then import that comp into Premiere, and it switches the comp to offline automatically.
AE let me use the proxy to do everything. If I turn off everything that references the footage, then premier lets me load the footage just fine.
Is there any way to allow premiere to use proxies from AE as well? I Would say I am surprised they didn’t pass that setting through, but….this is Adobe. They have some amazing tech, make a few good choices, and then they overlook something a toddler could have pointed out.
